This category also includes refugees with a temporary residence permit (such as Ukrainian citizens) or with subsidiary protection.

If you're in this situation, you will apply under the same conditions as Romanian and EU students, in line with the national legislation.

Admission process

If you fall into this citizenship category, your admission process is identical to the one for Romanian citizens: the same rules, taxes and deadlines apply.

Additionally — based on the type of your high-school diploma — some extra validations will be necessary after your application was submitted. UPT will help you with this validation, for more details please contact Laura MIRICĂ at laura.mirica@upt.ro.

Romanian high-school diploma

If you have a Romanian high-school diploma, no extra validation is required.

A diploma obtained in an EU country other than Romania

If you have a diploma obtained in an EU country other than Romania, you need to have your diploma validated by the National Centre for the Validation and Recognition of Diplomas of the Romanian Ministry for Education.

A diploma obtained in a non-EU country (EEA or Swiss Confederation)

If you have a diploma obtained in a non-EU country you need to obtain a graduation certificate issued by the National Centre for the Validation and Recognition of Diplomas of the Romanian Ministry for Education.

Documents

Certain countries require study documents to be authenticated. Please check this list to see if it applies to you.

  • Identity Card or Passport
  • Proof of Romanian language proficiency
    If you are applying for a program taught in Romanian, you must upload in Enroll either a language proficiency certificate or proof that you have passed the Romanian language online test organized by UPT.
    If you do not speak Romanian, you can enroll in the Romanian language preparatory year organized by UPT and apply for undergraduate studies after completing it.
  • Certificate of study equivalency
    If you completed your pre-university studies in another country, you need to present a certificate of equivalency issued by the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED) or by UPT’s Central Admission Committee.
  • Certificate of grade equivalency
    If you completed your pre-university studies in another country and submitted your equivalency file to UPT, request this certificate from UPT’s Central Admission Committee.
  • Certified translations
    If the documents you upload are not in Romanian or English, they must be accompanied by certified translations.
  • Temporary residence permit (for refugees)
    This document applies to candidates who have been granted refugee status (such as Ukrainian citizens).
